Level 1 is what you get when you start a new character on a MMO (at least on the level oriented ones) and that’s what this is in the context of this blog. This is the first post of many (I hope).
Before any further developments I must introduce the goal of this blog and what kind of posts you will find here. First and foremost, this is a blog where I write about the MMOs I play so if you’re looking for another “we write about all MMOs on the market” kind of site you’re on the wrong place and you should try Massively which is a great site. Second, the posts, besides the merely informative ones, reflect my opinion and while this blog is written by only me, they are the official opinion of this blog. Third, my native language isn’t English. I’m Portuguese but I decided to write in English to reach a larger number or readers so you’ll probably find some bad spelling or grammar for which I apologize. Fourth, I have a day job so there might be some days between posts. The free time is not much and I’ll have to split it up on playing the games and writing for you guys here.
By now you must be already asking “which MMOs are you going to write about?”. These days I’m playing Star Wars: The Old Republic, Guild Wars 2 and Firefall so the posts you’re going to find here will be mainly about those 3 games. That doesn’t mean I won’t be writing about any other MMOs but those 3 are the ones I’ll mention more. Which one of those 3 I play more? Definitely Star Wars: The Old Republic. Guild Wars 2 is a new game and because of that you might think I would be spending more of my play time on that game but that’s not what’s happening. Firefall is still in development and they made big changes this summer and I’m looking forward to jump back in as soon as I get a couple of friends to play with me (Yes, playing with friends is very important to me). It’s becoming a great game and I wish all the best to the guys at Red5. I still have my World of Warcraft account since I start playing it in 2006 but I’m not playing it anymore and I’m only waiting for the “one year subscription gives you Diablo 3” to expire in order to cancel my subscription. Don’t get me wrong: WoW is a great game but I just grew tired of it and SWTOR sucked all my play time since it came out last december. In the meanwhile I tried several other MMO’s (Lord of the Rings Online, Runes of Magic, Forsaken World) but they didn’t get much from me. I played EVE for a while and I’m not subing these days because I was only going into the game to add skills to the training queue, log off and go back to SWTOR so I stopped it, but I’m planning to get back to it in the future. EVE is a brilliant game with a lot of potential! I recommend it if you’re up to trying something different.
In the future I’ll try to get more people to write posts here and, if this blog really takes off, I might put it on it’s own server and even make some podcasts with some fellow players. For now let’s start “leveling” 😉
